Highlighting the industry’s immediate challenges, Sureka identified the availability and affordability of maize and soybean as major priorities, given their importance to poultry, dairy and aquaculture feed production. He emphasised the need for long-term solutions through collective industry efforts, improved productivity, stronger supply-chain infrastructure and constructive government engagement to ensure competitive raw material prices.
Other priorities for the 2026–2028 term include promoting predictive technologies and knowledge-sharing to improve productivity, expanding CLFMA’s membership across regions and industry segments, and creating awareness of career and entrepreneurship opportunities in the animal food industry among students in higher educational institutions.
The Association also plans to establish a dedicated team to develop Vision 2040 – ‘Most Economic Protein’ for the animal food sector.
Commenting on his appointment, Sureka said the livestock and feed sectors play a vital role in India’s nutritional security, farmers’ livelihoods and economic development. He stressed that addressing feed raw material availability, input cost volatility, animal nutrition and production efficiency requires sustained collaboration between industry stakeholders and policymakers.
CLFMA also acknowledged the contribution of Immediate Past Chairman Divya Kumar Gulati in strengthening the Association’s industry representation, policy advocacy and stakeholder engagement.
Supported by a team of office-bearers representing different industry segments, the new leadership will focus on strengthening coordination across the animal agriculture value chain and advocating policies that promote quality feed availability, balanced animal nutrition and sustainable industry growth.
