Dr. T.K. Walli
After graduating from National Dairy Research Institute Karnal (Haryana) in Dairy Science, Dr. Tej Krishan Walli pursued his post graduate programme including the doctoral research at the same institute. He specialized in Nutrition of Dairy Animals and joined the Faculty of Dairy Cattle Nutrition Division, where he also acted as Head of the Division before his retirement from the same institute in 2006. During his research career, Dr. Walli was offered research fellowship by International Atomic Energy Agency, for pursuing post doctoral research at NIRD, Reading UK. Under Indo-Dutch Fellowship he carried out research at RRI, Aberdeen, Scotland and at IAU, Wagningen, The Netherlands. Apart from that, he was invited by ILRI (under FAO) to participate in a consultative meeting at ILRI, Addis Ababa, Ethiopia and participated in several e-Conference organized by FAO recently. He further got opportunity to make presentations at Lahore, Pakistan; at Ho, Chi, Min City, Vietnam and at the University of Arizona, USA.
Dr. Walli served as Editor, Indian journal of Dairy Science, New Delhi, for many years. As President, Animal Nutrition Society of India, he organized an International Animal Nutrition Conference at NDRI, Karnal in 2007. After retirement he acted for a few years as Chief Technical Advisor, Poshak Agrivet Pvt. Ltd. For his research contributions, especially on the relevance of Bypass protein feeding to dairy animals in India, he has been honored with Dr. D. Sunderesan Award, Indian Dairy Association’s Fellowship Award and Life Time Achievement Award by ISBP. In 2012, Food and Agricultural Organization of United Nations, Rome, Italy published a Technical Bulletin authored by him on one of feeding technologies viz. Densified Complete Feed for Ruminants, with which he has been closely associated post retirement.
