Indian Company Loopworm Secures EU Expansion for Insect Protein

Loopworm, a leader in sustainable insect-based nutrition, proudly announces its EU TRACES certification for Silkworm Pupae-derived products, now fully authorized to supply the European Union market for pet and animal nutrition. This achievement solidifies Loopworm’s position as a key player in sustainable protein sourcing, with a GMP+, ISO 22000, and HACCP-certified facility capable of producing 6,000 metric tonnes annually.

Co-founder & CEO, Ankit Alok Bagaria, highlighted the significance of this milestone: “The EU TRACES certification validates our commitment to quality and international standards. Europe is a growing market for sustainable ingredients, and we’re excited to meet the demand for sustainable pet and animal nutrition.”

Since launching LoopFactory in April 2024, Loopworm has been supplying protein and fat products to the Asian aquaculture market, particularly for shrimp feed, improving feed palatability and growth.

Loopworm’s silkworm pupae, raised in climate-friendly conditions, provide nutrient-dense products, including high-protein meals and Omega-rich oils. The company overcomes key challenges in the insect protein industry—cost, scalability, and quality—ensuring efficiency and consistency.

Looking ahead, Loopworm plans to expand its offerings with insect-derived palatants and explore silkworm biomolecules for anti-diabetic and anti-obesity formulations. Additionally, the company is developing a recombinant protein platform to produce high-value therapeutics and diagnostics at lower costs.

Ankit concluded, “We’re excited to enter the European market and collaborate with pet food companies to integrate our sustainable products into their formulations.”
