Aquaconnect, an integrated seafood company, has committed approximately USD 4.5 million to expand into aquaculture biologicals research and production. The company is setting up a state-of-the-art R&D and production facility aimed at driving innovation in shrimp and fish health solutions. This investment aligns with the company’s mission to provide science-backed, sustainable farm care solutions and strengthen its integrated value chain.
Building on its strong network of 850 aqua partners, Aquaconnect is leveraging its on-ground presence to create a feedback loop for real-time performance tracking, farmer insights, and digitized research data. CEO Rajamanohar Somasundaram emphasized that this move is a natural progression for the company, aiming to be among the top five aqua biologicals companies in India.
Data-driven approach of the company is overcoming traditional barriers in aquaculture biological innovation, such as slow product trials and feedback collection. The company’s strategy accelerates product development cycles and ensures quicker, more effective solutions for farmers. The focus is on next-generation formulations for nutrition, water quality, disease control, growth optimization, and biosecurity.
Aquaconnect’s farm care brand, Dr Grow, launched over a year ago, continues to expand its product portfolio across India and globally. The company is also collaborating with leading biotech firms in the EU and US to co-develop formulations tailored to Indian aquaculture needs. The new R&D and production infrastructure in Gujarat aims to make these innovations accessible to farmers nationwide, driving growth in the aquaculture sector.
