Since last 2 years, Pan India Broiler Co-ordination Committee has been celebrating National chicken day on 16-17November. This year event was celebrated with the help of State Associations and Pharma Companies.
Kolkata
Mr. Madan Miathy, General Secretary, West Bengal Poultry Federation, Kolkatahas taken the lead. West Bangal Association has started selling Chicken at concessional rate in 450 shops all over Kolkata, they have put banners to promoting Chicken consumption all over the city.
A chicken recipe competition was also arranged on 16 November where Bengali Cine Artist Miss Rani Reshmoni has distributed the prizes to the winners. There was a good participation from the public. They have also arranged tabloos to educate the public regarding quality of chicken.
Chhattisgarh
Mr. Sanjay Brahmankar, President has taken the lead in celebrating National Chicken Day. The state association has started celebrating National Chicken Day from 6th Nov. in around 50 shops.
Maharashtra
Celebrating Padmashri Dr. B. V. Rao’s birthday who is also known as Father of Indian Poultry,a nationwide awareness campaign is being implemented. As part of the campaign, ‘National Chicken Day’ was celebrated on 16-17 November. On this occasion, chicken was sold at a discounted price from various shops in the city by the integrator members.
Mr. Sanjay Nalgirkar, President; Dr. Ajay Deshpande, Secretary and Mr. Krishnacharan, Trustee of Poultry Farmers and Breeders Association Maharashtra announced this day should be celebrated in pan-India.
Shri. Vasanthkumar Setty, Pan India Broiler coordination committee and former president of Poultry Farmers and Breeders Association of Maharashtra said, “This day is being celebrated with the aim of creating awareness about chicken among common citizens. Poultry Farmers and Breeders Association Maharashtra, Karnataka Poultry Farmers Breeders Association, West Bengal Poultry Federation and many other state poultry associations organized various programs across the country. In this awareness campaign, various activities like sale of cheaper chicken, awareness programs, lectures, demonstrations, training are being organized.
Karnataka
In Karnataka, it was celebrated by offering discounted price in 100 chicken shops sponsored by Star in Mangalore, by Rajshekher Reddy in Bangalore &by Kwality in Belgaum. Karnataka association also sponsored Weightlifting competition on this occasion.
Prof. G. Devegawda, President, Institution of Veterinarians of Poultry Industries (IVPI)also promoted and educated visitors in Krushi Mela on 18-20 November and also distributed eggs and 500 Kg chicken to the visitors.
