The Goa government has established the Goa State Poultry Development Corporation Ltd to boost poultry production, organise the sector and regulate poultry businesses in the state.
The corporation will undertake poultry farming, breeder and hatchery development, and the production, procurement and marketing of poultry and poultry products in domestic and international markets. It will also facilitate the procurement and marketing of feed additives, medicines and other raw materials.
The corporation will focus on policy formulation, licensing and registration, biosecurity enforcement, market research and awareness programmes to streamline Goa’s poultry sector.
The initiative follows Chief Minister Pramod Sawant’s proposal to establish a state poultry board aimed at increasing poultry production, strengthening industry regulation and ensuring quality chicken supply.
